BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The 30-game 2016 Women's National Collegiate Club Championship will be held on Friday-Sunday, May 6-8, at the University of California-Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, Calif.
For fans unable to make it to the venue, the Collegiate Water Polo Association will stream the entirety of the tournament on a Pay-Per-View basis. Coverage is available on the CWPA Multimedia page or by clicking the streaming link on the Women's National Collegiate Club Championship page.
The Collegiate Water Polo Association, in partnership with Stretch Internet, is offering the streaming to the league's fans at a cost of $10 per game or $25 for a weekend pass that allows viewers to watch every game from the comfort of their home or office. Each game will be archived so that fans can catch up on the action if they miss a game.
In addition to the championship coverage via the Internet, the Collegiate Water Polo Association offers DVD copies of every game at the championship on site for fan purchase. Fans attending the championship can find out more information about the DVD packages offered by the league at the concessions table during the championship.
The site of the 2015 Men's National Collegiate Club Championship on Friday-Sunday, November 13-15, UC-Santa Cruz becomes the third host in the Golden State for the women's championship as California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and the University of California-Davis in Davis, Calif. hosted in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Further, it marks the first time that the championship will be hosted in the same state during either an academic or calendar year.
It will mark the sixth time a California school will host either the Men's or Women's National Collegiate Club Championship as California Polytechnic State University and San Diego State University hosted the men's event in 2002 and 2013 prior to the UC-Santa Cruz's duties in the Fall.
Seeds for the championship are based on the results of the 2015 Women's National Collegiate Club Championship at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., with the Sierra Pacific Division claiming the No. 1 spot due to the University of California winning the National Championship a year back with an 11-5 defeat of the University of Notre Dame.
The host region receives two automatic bids, one of which is assumed by the division champion and the other by the host site or division runner-up (the 16th position). This ensures the tournament host is always a participant.
